Read comics. Earn badges. Find out what kind of scientist you’d be.
STEMCOM Africa comics are adventures, mysteries, and stories with real science inside them — written about kids like you, in places you’d recognise.
Ask a Parent or Teacher to Get You Started“Educational” doesn’t have to mean boring
You’ve probably had this thought before opening something labelled “educational”: this is going to be boring, or too hard, or just another school thing dressed up to look fun. Fair worry. A lot of “educational” stuff is exactly that.
STEMCOM was built to not be that. The stories run on adventure, mystery, humour, and action first, with real science built into what’s happening on the page rather than bolted on afterward. And if you’ve already decided you’re “not a science person,” that’s not a fact about you. It’s a sentence a lot of kids pick up early and carry around longer than they need to. Beginner-level comics exist for exactly that reason: a place to start that doesn’t assume you already know the ending.
Built for fun first, science second
Adventure, mystery, humour, and action carry every story — the science is real, but it’s never the only reason to turn the page.
You don’t have to be “good at science” to start
Comics are sorted by reading level, from beginner up, so you can start wherever makes sense and work up from there. A glossary explains anything tricky, and a built-in help feature is there if you get stuck.
Characters who look like you, doing real science
Some comics feature real African scientists as characters or inspiration. Others follow fictional characters facing real scientific challenges. Either way, the science is accurate, and the kids on the page could live on your street.
What you can actually do here
Read, play, earn, save, and keep going — even when the WiFi drops out.
Read in any order
Every comic stands on its own, so you can start with whatever looks interesting. Some series follow the same characters across books, which makes reading in order more fun, but it’s never required.
Earn points, badges, and avatars
Reading comics, completing quizzes, playing games, building reading streaks, and exploring new topics all earn points. Points unlock badges, avatars, and extra content.
Games that connect to what you just read
Finish a chemistry comic and you might play a molecule-building game next. Finish a space story and you might navigate a spacecraft. The games teach real science, not just keep you busy.
Save your favourites
Use the Save button to build your own collection and come back to it whenever you want.
Read offline, on your own time
Download a comic while you’ve got internet, then read it later with no connection needed — on a bus, during a power cut, wherever you end up.
You don’t need to already love science. You just need to start.
Ask a parent or teacher to set up your free account, pick a topic that sounds interesting, and start reading.
